Look at this Back Page!!!
To me it looks like Derek Jeter is getting Fed Up with the circus that has been going on with the Yankees.
When Derek Jeter's contract expires at the end of the 2010 season.
there are those who have said that maybe the Yankees should consider not going all out to sign him because of his age and what some say is his "diminishing skills"!
Some say he is not that good of a Shortstop anymore and in fact he may be hurting the Yankees by staying there. Also some say his bat is not nearly effective as it once was. There are even some who say he is and has always been overrated,
Myself, I say he is not overrated and never has been, I always would have taken Jeter over Nomar or the "Baseball player formally known as A-Rod".
I do say he will need to switch defensive positions very soon, maybe by 2010.
However he does appear that he becoming disgusted and tired of the distractions,
So I have to wonder, Will he decide that he has had enough and go play some place else afer the 2010 season.
I think it is very possible. I would say it is 50/50 that he decides to stay.

I wouldn't blame him if he left.
As much as I love the Yankees and Jeter I would not be too upset if he left, But he would not go to Boston or the Mets, I could see the Angels, or maybe the Tigers if they are a contender.
I would have to ask what other position you think he is going to play? First base? That's filled now for a while with Teixeira. Third base? Maybe if A-Rod gets booed out of town. Like I said in my blog though, I don't see him being able to play center field if he can't handle shortstop.
As far as Jeter playing for another team, I say no way. Jeter has far too much pride being a Yankee to play for anyone else. Plus, he is the team captain. There is no way he could ever lead another team other than the Yankees.

Hey, thanks for the link to IT IS HIGH. As for Jeet, he's going nowhere.
If we win another ring, it'll only strengthen his bond with the team. If we don't, we'll need him more than ever -- and he, us -- as a reminder of the good old days.
This won't be an Elston Howard situation.
Lenny, You might be right about not going anywhere, But as far as going to the outfield, Back several years ago, Robin Yount was a all star Shortstop and moved to the outfield and also Craig Biggio switched positions a few times in his career.
el duque. I hope you are right
and You are welcome for the link. I enjoy your site.
Being an NL guy, I don't catch a lot of the inside take as this. So ... if this happens I can remember that I heard it here first!
